Dave, debt and cashflow are two entirely different beasts. LUFC might not owe anyone a thing, but if the current money coming in is less than the money going out, thats a cashflow issue. You have a few choices then - take a loan to cover the cashflow shortfall (you are now in debt but have no cashflow issue), or sell something to raise that cash (you aren't in debt), or reduce your costs/outgoings to the level of your income.
As someone else has mentioned, there is a salary cap in the lower divisions and Douglas might be sold so we can get some extra bodies in to provide squad cover and not exceed that cap.
