There are rumours that Ken Bates will replace Sir Alan Sugar for the fourth series of The Apprentice, due to start filming next Autumn. Over 10,000 candidates are expected to apply for the chance to become Ken's Apprentice and a 12 month contract with an unspecified company registered in Delaware (widely believed to be Gesundheit Incorporated, a U.S. Waste Management Consultancy). One major change from the previous series of The Apprentice will be the Candidate Adminstration/ Application charge of £1000 guineas (non-returnable). This is expected to offset production charges and provide the series star with a reasonable recompense for his business acumen and time spent filming in the Cote D'Azur. Production Assistants are already ramping up for the expected flood of potential Apprentices and have worked with a Big 4 Management Consultancy (sic) to devise the "Fit and Proper Person" aptitude tests to weed out those candidates capable of passing such tests. As in previous years, candidates will be expected to undergo a rigorous programme of management tasks over an eight week period. To enliven the new series, each round this year will have a fun title, such as "Shady Deals" (selling parasols, umbrellas and awnings), "Trotters' Revenge" (marketing) and Pin the Tail on the Donkey (International finance). Outgoing Boss, Sir Alan confirmed that he had enjoyed his own time making The Apprentice but felt it was the right time to hand the show over to a new geezer. There are doubts however whether Ken will continue with the famous "You're Fired" catchphrase. Insiders believe that this will be modified slightly, probably in the form of "It's nothing to do with me but the interests I represent have asked me to communicate we expect you to announce your intention to leave, unless of course you would like to put your money where your mouth is" but legal advisers, Cheyenne Morrisette, have not yet approved the precise form of words.
