Whilst on the one hand Beast now has to pay a bit more out, which seems morally
correct, the fact that further payments should LUFC reach the Prem within 10
years will be paid by someone other than Bates (I'm making the assumption that
he won't be there in 10 years, or even 2 for that matter, when conceivably the
Premiership is theoretically possible) makes the club less attractive. Kind of
inverse performance-related!

I'm finding The Editors 'The weight of the world' (on the new groovy chart
hitty-topper LP an End has a Start) suitably gloomy for all this 'where will it
all end' debate. Now if you want a bit of uplifting, check out You Tube and
search on Madness and Glastonbury, and their 'secret' gig in Lost Vagueness.
Serious foot-tapping and smiling is almost guaranteed!

  John
