I have just been speaking to a mate who has connections in Dubai.The news seems
fairly hopeful but don't hang out the flags just yet !!
The Khaleej Times is the joint top Englsih speaking paper over there and is
not a scandal sheet.
The word is that things have been brewing for a while and the general feeling
is that Shiek Mirdad and Linx would not have had there names mentioned if there
was no substance to it all.
It may be that they are the consortium which Revie was fronting and the
reason that he has gone quiet is that they were not impressed with the way that
Revie was getting so much publicity for himself and his own company.
Linx are major players with billboards all over the place - they are invovled
in property development (? warning bells should be ringing ??) but have fingers
in many pies.
Leeds United are still a known brand in middle east etc.
The solicitors they are supposed to have instructed are top drawer - doing
Glazer ManU takeover etc -
I know this is all mate of a mate guesswork and speculation etc but the basis
seems to be no smoke without fire for this group and so things MAY happen , it
appears that the plan is to buy the club from Bates after all the admin stuff
sorted whereby Bates and his lot will get their cash back.
So bottom line possibly more substance to this story than most of the others
we have had to suffer over last few years - anyway heres hoping
