I'm feeling lucky so I've bought an extra euro millions ticket tonight,
so who wants a job on the board when I win and who fancies a stab at
getting those overpaid lazy buggers to pass the ball to a team mate,
defend with a semblance of confidence and to knock the ball into the
net...

Subject: [LU] Morris Bid -- the Downside is the Upside

Some will question the Morris bid. Some will do so because of his
involvement in the Kransortium. Others will criticize it because they
will see it
(correctly) as a real estate play. Some, riffing on the later, will
suggest the
bid is not in line with the best interests of the supporters.

But we have to remember how we got here and we must be realistic about
what
it will take to get us out. Barring an Russian billionaire looking for
a
plaything -- and if one of those were out there and interested we would
already
be his plaything -- the future of Leeds United must be built on sound
business
 principles.

What we have to offer a purchaser is two things: (1) Leeds is the
largest
one-club city in Europe with a tremendous installed fan-base that merely
needs
to be wooed back, most of whom are merely looking for the slightest
excuse,
and (2) the Club would seem to be one hell of a real estate play.

In the hands of a good businessman, point (2) can be used to provide
some
return while funding a serious and business-driven attempt to exploit
point
(1). That, to me, seems to be what Morris' bid constitutes.

Can he be criticized for not being a fan who will buy back Elland Road
and
Thorpe Arch and maintain them inviolate? Errrrm. Well, its true...but
the
thought that anyone would seriously do that went walkabout for want of
anyone
to play the part. Its fantasy land. Its the type of thing that got us
in
this mess in the first place.

It is precisely what we cannot afford.

I'll take a real, serious business foundation to build upon -- even if
it
means losing ER or TA -- instead.
