So to put this into perspective, the average squad salary was, what, £5k week? Kelly would have been getting £28k per week plus £4k per match (often 2 matches a week). His best offer was to take £28k per week plus a miserly £2k per match. If he had played every league match that would have saved LUFC £92k over the season, little more than 3 weeks salary for Kelly. Not Kelly's fault he was being paid that much. No obligation for him to drop his salary.
