Could we have not have done all this when we first got into trouble (and if I am right) before the introduction of the 10 point penalty ? that way we would have a chance of being on the road to recovery by now rather than starting from scratch or am I missing something ? We'd have still had to pay the football debts - ex-players' wages, managers' contracts etc - in full. Three years ago that was an enormous amount of money - more than £20m - and that would have put us into liquidation. The Ridsdale legacy had to be worked through before anything else could happen. The more I look at this, I believe Bates planned this all along, as there was no real option. We were never going to be 10 points clear of relegation. Note how many of the current players' contracts run out at the end of this season. The 10-point penalty has been in place for a while now hasn't it - it was brought in after Leicester did what we've just done.
