Peter Wilkinson has exclusively revealed to skysports.com that reports linking him with a takeover of Leeds United are wide of the mark. Reports on Sunday claimed that the internet entrepreneur was mulling over whether to launch a bid for the beleaguered Championship club. Under Ken Bates' stewardship, the Yorkshire side have failed to snap out of the slump brought on by their spectacular collapse under previous chairman Peter Ridsdale and currently sit at the foot of the Championship table. With fortunes on the pitch at a 20-year low, speculation had been rife that Leeds-born Wilkinson could jump to the rescue of his boyhood club. However the multi-millionaire has now stated that such reports are misleading, and that he has had no contact whatsoever with Bates. "I have no idea where the rumours are coming from," Wilkinson told skysports.com. "I have never met or corresponded or had a conversation with Mr Bates. "If I was interested in buying the club I would, out of courtesy, contact Mr Bates to have a preliminary discussion.
