Meaningless - Kelly's getting paid for the contract that he and the club
entered into freely. Nothing more nothing less. We will pay him that
money whether he plays at right back, sits on the bench or sells
programmes.

We should be using a player of his experience and (presumably) love for
or pride in the club for all we can get from him, while he is still on
our books.

What happens when his contract is up is a different matter - although in
Kelly's case it would seem cut and dried that he will be retiring.

The idea of the contract with a reduction should we be relegated sounds
good to me but whether any player/agent would ever accept it is
something completely different....ta dum de dum de dum de dum de dum di

Subject: [LU] kelly's wage

perhaps spot on regarding him as a player but surely not his wages?

how can you not care how much he is paid, after all that has happened?
we
can only play one person at a time in any position but imagine if they
were
all on that much money? no need to imagine, we've been there already and

look what happened.

even at 26k per week, he's on at least twice as much as he should be
with a
championship club not to mention a club like ours that's in such a dire
financial position. he knows this too.

isn't there also the possibility such a wage could cause unrest in the
dressing room?

quick question... do players in general have wage reduction clauses in
their
contracts if the team is relagated and they wish to stay? i think they
should. it would have saved us a few bob.
