The guest editor of this morning's "Today" programme on Radio 4 was none
other than the alleged successful businessman: Alan Arsene Wenger Leighton,
who famously took his eyes off the ball at Leeds United.

He seemed to revel in his role as the plural wunderkind par excellence until
the lady presenter kindly mentioned Leeds United. The consequent gulp from
Lightweight Leighton was palpable and he quickly moved on after mumbling
something to the efffect that "I'm no longer at Leeds, of course..."

It seems to me that if he wasn't in charge of the Royal Mail that he might
well have been sanctioned (along with "spendthrift" Ridsdale) by the DTI.
Surprised he wasn't ennobled in the New Year's Honours list - but I suppose
Blair is saving him for his resignation list.
