Let's cast our mind back to the events around Smiffy's departure... 1) he was one of the very few members of the relegated squad who tried that season - but we still went down 2) it was obvious that he was on his way if we were relegated 3) his last game at ER he was mobbed by the fans and carried around on their shoulders 4) a week later he gave the finger and told the leeds fans to feck off
Now consider: 1) would he want to come back, given point 4 above? 2) would he take a significant cut in his personal terms to return on loan? If not, I can't see a deal. 3) if he played well for us, how long would we keep him before Taggart pulled him bact to TOWD? 4) what long-term good would another bungee loanee do for us? 5) if he came back, where would we play him? Already got too many strikers it seems, Ditto midfielders. Maybe he can give us LB cover? I would still rather see Smiff than Mills or Matteo (the former lost the plot after the WC02 and Dom is not a long-term fix, despite TFGGATSS. Bring on mighty Colchester! Dunderhead Some mornings it just isn't worth chewing through those leather straps _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
