Don't really see its significance to us anymore, "the past is another country", etc. The only good things from the LUFC point of view are that Southend will hopefully get sucked into chasing the League Cup to the detriment of their league form and secondly that such decent players as they have might get sold during the Christmas window leaving them as prime relegation candidates and taking one of the three places we don't want to be in come May. Of course taking the usual Leeds "half empty" perspective, a cup run equally could trigger off a surge in their league form, the TV money may enable them to strengthen over Christmas and come May they've done enough to be out of the bottom three..........and above us.
