Didn't see or hear the press conference but I liked
what was reported. Although some on here think I'm a
pessimist when it comes to LUFC but nothing could be
further from the truth. I was excited about
Blackwell's appointment (he said all the right things
and I bought it) and I was also excited by DOL, Peter
Reid and even El Tel (surely he couldn't be worse than
O'Leary could he ???? :)). Apart form this season when
I knew we were on a downer with Blackie I am always
excited about the start to the season and our chances.
I hate Chelsea and I hate(d) Denis Wise but I have to
say as an appointment this one is interesting. I like
the thought of the nastiness (or rather
'togetherness') returning to Leeds. Had Curbishly come
along you would have expected results but he just
wouldn't do it for me - let's face it he looks and
talks like a stiff. Just like the club he managed he
is a nomark.
Who knows what will happen but for me he's immediately
sorted the main problem - the captain and lack of
captaincy. There are plenty more problems to solve
though but for me that;s the best thing he could have
done and therefore it's a good start. Butler was
Blackwell's main problem. Blackie made him captain and
then give him an extended contract when everyone knew
he was finished. The dressing room unrest is largely
due to Butler and you can see on the pitch that the
players have no respect for him. Blackie just couldn't
see it though. Yes Mark I accept your argument about
being too close to the situation to see it but that
does not excuse Blackie for continuing with him.
Roll on Saturday. Will be interesting to compare the
performance with Tuesday night's which was absolute
garbage.
