I am absolutely amazed at the utter incompetence of people when it come to UK geography. So for all of you out there, so reliant on twatnav that you couldn't find your way out of a paper bag:
SOUTHEND IS IN ESSEX: Seven miles of award-winning beaches (including the Jubilee Beach – always above high tide), the longest pleasure pier in the world, over eighty parks and open spaces of varying size, forty playgrounds, six nature and fourteen historic conservation areas, sixteen allotment sites … and that’s just for starters. There are also four museums, three theatres, two art galleries, seven libraries, three casinos, a bowling alley, a sealife centre, the largest fun park in the south-east, a skateboard park and BMX track, five leisure centres, even an airport.… and there’s more. To the west is Leigh, a haven for those with an artistic frame of mind, while Shoebury, at the other end of the town, has a long and varied history, including being the home to the Shoebury Garrison. Southend also has a brand new, state of the art building for the South East Essex College, is the site for the new University of Essex, and is served by two major railway networks. Plus, pubs, clubs, shopping, lots of places to eat … Southend has it all! Kursaal Flyers anyone? or after last night's match will you have be Down To The Doctors to feel good Betty (geographer to those on a journey without maps) PS And that's before we mention the demise of poor old Eric Newby..... _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
