Rumour on WACCOE:
"Just had a phone call from a friend at the club, (i know it sounds dodgy)
but it appears that Butler has been stripped of his captaincy. The players
objected to his "influence" at a meeting on Sunday and it will be anounced
to the media as his stepping down "to give someone else a chance". He will
say that "he was proud to captain the club, and he has lots of fond
memories" but he feels that a change is needed for the good of the club. He
is willing to give his all for the club, but he knows he may have lost some
of the dressing room. As yet the new captain is not known, but they are
trying to contact Derry but his phone is off."

"Lets just say. Carver asserted his control on Sunday (as you all know)
Butler disagreed on some points and voiced his opinion. He was shouted down
by management and players. After talks today, the club and Butler agrred to
keep the players dignity by announcing he was stepping down, the reason is
that it is either going to be announced tomorrow or wed is that they want to
give him some credibility and a sell on opportunity (his decision) for
January. The club agreed and the announcement will either be tomorrow or wed
if they can agree with Derry that he will be captain AND go along with the
clubs public statement to support Butler.

I will keep you informed if i hear any more"

The poster seems very sure and has credibility with a lot of regs.

Fingers crossed.

Cheers,

Sean
