You don't need to be a genius to work out that, for what he was paid, Sven has done sweet FA for this countries National team. I personally had him down as a marked man after the Brazil game in 2002 when, faced with a 1-2 scoreline, against a team down to 10 men, he looked like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights, did nothing and we went out quietly through the backdoor. Not kicking and screaming as we would be expected to as a Nation, but feebly and without a fight. The same happened in 2004 when he was outwitted by a decent manager with a good, but not exceptional, international team. Now, we've done it again and he's banked £25,000,000 and buggered off. And what do the tosspots in charge do ... give the job to one of the team that has helped Sven be so unsuccesful and who, despite being given millions and millions by possibly the best chairman in the league! has done nothing to suggest he is head and shoulders above the rest. The bandwagon starts again in September with qualification for Euro 2008 and I can't help but think .. why should I even waste the electricity watching them??? And then I transpose these feelings to my (our) beloved Leeds United ... I see we've signed a winger ... on a free ... from a relegated team, it looks like we may have a midfielder, who's 32 and has spent most of his career in the lower leagues (Assuming it's THE Darren Currie who played for Barnet for 5 seasons) and helped Ipswich to mid table mediocrity last season ... and I can't help wondering, why should I waste the petrol coming down to any games this season?!??!?!
