Jeremy (and all) The offence is unsporting behaviour (to allow for the fact that footballers are rarely gentlemen) and my favourite (sad anally retentive refereeing) moment of the whole World Cup was when a referee saw someone brandishing an imaginary card, demanding a card was shown and it was ... to him!
If every referee did the same thing, we'd soon see the end of the invisible card waving Brian -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jeremy Adams Sent: Friday, July 07, 2006 7:21 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [LU] waving pretend cards For me, any player who runs over to a ref and either waves an imaginary card or asks the ref to card the player should be given an automatic yellow for ungentlemanly conduct. If refs want to stop players diving they need to yellow card them more often. The amount of times I saw a ref wave play on after some (usually Portuguese) player falls to the ground like a "shot eel" (TM Humphries) and not give a card was ridiculuous. If the ref thinks there was no foul and the player goes to ground surely the ref must think he's faking the foul, ergo yellow card. Isn't this a rule? On showpony Ronaldo and his multi stepovers. It annoys me just as much as when Joe Cole does it. The only difference is that Ronaldo at least seems vaguely two footed. Every time Cole did it you just knew he was going to go inside on his right foot (when playing on the left). Still I hope Ronaldo gets to stay at Man U, he's going to have a torrid time from the fans if he's still playing in Bligty in August.
