For what it's worth I'm pro-Owen. As Blackwell enthusiasts will tell you,
you should judge a man on his attainments and his ability to deliver what
he
promises. Owen consistently scores goals at international level and has
done
throughout his career. His control may be iffy, his overall contribution
may
be poor at times, but he scores,
However, the test of a sole striker aren't the goals he scores (and I don't
think Owen has many left in him at international level anyway), but the
possesion he retains and the goals he creates for his supporting midfield.
Neither of which are Owen strong points. Play him by all means as your
luxury 2nd striker but he's really taking the place of someone else capable
of a bigger contribution.
