Blackwell - looks like a Wally Arnolds coach driver in his Sunday best!
What we have is a manager who 'plays safe' to the point of perversity, meaning that aside from an individual 'special', a set-play or f*** knows what we're about as creative as a house-brick! The tactics yesterday were, unfortunately, typical of other displays I've seen (and I have complained about them non-stop!). Invite teams onto the 8/9 men behind the ball, try and tire them out for 60 minutes, then open up - slightly! Absolutely f***ing terrible to watch and, crucially, ineffective against teams who have any midfielders, because the ball just comes straight back. Of course that might not be such a problem if we have 4 Kilgallons, but in Butler and Gregan we have dollops of the highest order. How can Gregan strut around with such arrogance given that 75% of his clearances are sliced (can't get to the ball quick enough), whilst the rest go straight back to the
opposition. Butler, even given his 'experience', is simply yesterdays man. That said, I don't blame them alone - this team is Blackwell's, and if I was Bates watching that yesterday I'd have him out to Monaco before the days up and ask him what the f*** that was!! Then I'd sack him!
What a wasted opportunity yesterday was, on every front. All the talk of how many attackers we've got is a diversion if we don't have a midfield. What was the icing on a p*ss poor cake was that when Leeds started to look for a goal there were one or two players who looked half capable. I repeat what I said earlier - BLACKWELL IS THE PROBLEM!!
So, now for the troublesome bits. I hear that Boro are due some £1.5m plus for Ricketts at season-end - is that correct? I also hear that Reading are looking at/ have made a £2.5m bid for Killgallon? If that's correct then God help us!
I thought Leeds had already
lost the game in the tunnel yesterday - Watford (a very poor mans Wimbledon) were doing all their squaddie camaraderie bit whilst Leeds players were gawping around like lost kids - quite what Gary Kelly was thinking was anyone's guess! Seemed to be only one team in that tunnel, and it wasn't Leeds. Listening to Boothroyd spouting his pseudo-management Americanisms was refreshing for about 20 seconds, but at least he had a clue, which is more than Blackwell displayed. Whoever said that Blackwell went missing at the end is absolutely spot on - he's out of his depth. All the sh*te he quoted about where Leeds have come from, how few players we had blah blah blah - what about the game, the tactics required, the vision for the future. Get him out now!
Even as someone very much on the sidelines of LUFC activity, the f***ing incompetence of our managerial 'team' makes me angrier than I can express.
