Anyone is free to do work 'on the side' as an individual - the two things to
concern yourself with are;

1. Your existing employment contract will almost certainly have some kind of
exclusivity clause in it, in other words it will prevent you doing work for
anyone else.  If you decide to do the work then you are in breach of your
contract of employment, so beware.

2. You need to declare any additional income on your (equivalent of) self
assessment tax return, so you can be taxed on it.  If you don't declare it
and get caught be prepared for a big fine or possibly a custodial sentence!
