Hope it goes well Monday - sounds like a laugh.

I could do with a beer too: below are some listers' directions to the
Adelphi - from 28 years ago - if it helps? 50-60p on the bus apparently!

Also it seems like a good moment to remember John Lee again, so even though
they won't make it through to the list here's a couple of pictures of John
- 25 years ago and more too - at the Adelphi. Hope that's okay, Tracey.
Maybe there's a slot on a web site somewhere for them, John/Jon?

Cheers,
Gav

The Adelphi is near the Tetley's brewery in Leeds. It's just on the south
side of the river after crossing Leeds Bridge. Instructions from train
station :

   - from station entrance, cross little car-park and down steps inside
   that tower thing.
   - Cross main road and head down smaller road opposite (Scarborough pub
   on left)
   - Follow this road round under bridge, past car parck on right until get
to traffic lights next to Yorkshire Ryder headquarters (this is where buses
   go to Elland Rd)
   - Turn left for a short distance until you get to more lights and
   another main road.
   - turn right down this main road and cross Leeds Bridge.
   - The Adelphi is about 50 yards after bridge on the other side of the
   road.

We usually meet in the first room to the right after the entrance. There
are usually at least some of us with list t-shirts on.

From Leeds station barrier aim for glass doors opposite to street; once
outside, head across road/car-park to light-house (really taxi-controller)
and down steps inside it.

Cross main road at pedestrian lights, go under railway skew bridge (not the
one over the main road you just crossed) with Prince of Wales and Cock of
the North pubs on left (latter built into railway arches and I recommend
the Old Mill bitter from Snaith); straight on with NCP car-park on right,
veer left when carpark peters out, arrive at major traffic-lights (Golden
Lion on left).

Cross major road (to Bridge pub) and turn right over Leeds Bridge. Main
road goes round to right, but Adelphi is straight ahead on left, not far
before Tetley's Brewery.

If, as I sometimes do, you go to the ground to pick up your ticket before
the match, and then want to get to the Adelphi, here are a few tips:

   - On Elland Rd (outside the ground, don't cross the road) there are a
number of bus stops. Wait for a bus!
   - Ask the driver if it stops anywhere near the Tetleys brewery. Most
   buses do.
   - Its about 50-60p for the journey. Ask them to let you know when to get
   off.
   - You'll get dropped off pretty close to the brewery. If you can't see
the Adelphi, just ask some one!

I've found this to be useful. The bus drivers are usually pretty friendly
and helpful.
