I think both of these games have highlighted a couple of areas where the squad is very short.
1. Defensive midfield. I think a good defensive midfielder is essential in both Bielsa's preferred formations 4-1-4-1 and 3-3-3-1. Leeds have no-one other than Phillips who can play that role. I think when Phillips is not there he might have to think about reinforcing that area with a 3-4-3 or 4-2-3-1. Playing Klich and Struijk just in front of the defence in either formation, would give a bit more insurance and still allow the full-backs or wing-backs to get forward. 2. No 9 and 10. With only 4 players to choose from, there is never any chance of bringing on fresh legs of the required quality. Take into account Hernandez' increasing fragility and the fact that Roberts is not good enough in either role, there is never central attacking quality on the bench. Forshaw's return, if it ever comes, may help cover Phillips but there has to be a lot of doubt as to whether he will ever be effective.
