I think Silvestri was a good keeper. He also just needed more time to get
acquainted to the Championship.

My issue is with the ones that have gone through his hands or the ones he’s
not got to because his starting position was poor.I agree though, second best
defence in the league with a dodgy keeper and not our first choice defence for
most of the season.I just worry that he’s going to cost us games, and
promotion. It’s the Weidwald argument all over again - the team are keeping
clean sheets and not conceding many so you can’t drop the keeper. We saw how
that ended up.Would I rather have Weidwald back or Silvestri? Not a chance.Do I
think we could and should be trying to get better than BPF? Absolutely

show me how many chances Roofe has missed - you know, for parity - (not that I

so the clean sheets are a team achievement, whereas the goals conceded are
BPF’s..?
I’m with Naef’s last post…2nd best defence in the league, half the time not the
first choice defence…I’ll take that.

By my measures? Not sure what you mean. I would say the low number of goals
conceded and clean sheets is more to do with the players in front of him not
allowing the opposition many shots at goal and the fact we tend to dominate
possession. My issue with him is as basic as I think he is poor positionally,
has been beaten from range too often and is looking shakier by the week. If it
wasn’t for Blackman ‘s injury he would’ve already been dropped. His penalty
save against Reading was brilliant but doesn’t make up for the mistakes. As I
said yesterday, the last 13 shots on goal against us has led to 10 goals. That
can’t be right. This is the link to the goals we’ve let in

Presumably he also gets credit for the 10 or so clean sheets in the league...if
we’re judging a keeper and not the team, on this...that then gives us between
10-30 points he has achieved for us...by your measures! Puts him on a par with
Roofe and Pablo...

Leicester want to loan him to us?

Just seen a clip on Twitter of all the goals we’ve conceded this season and at
least half of them are his fault. I’ve got nothing against the lad, I’m always
pleased to see lads from the academy break into the team, but he’s just not
good enough.

Interesting that WBA might lose Barnes as Leicester want him back and Aston
Villa might lose Abrahams because Wolves have had a bid accepted for him.

Out of lurkdom for five minutes to show my age and frustration.

I'm with Simon M 100% and Rich with regard to the lack of a plan B.

We need to sign a new a new keeper NOW. This young man (he's not a

young kid so let's stop making excuses for him) is going to cost us

promotion. A good keeper gains you as many points as a good striker and

BPF has already cost us many points this season. AGE ALERT - Sprake was

in the team at 16 and was a better keeper than BPF with one arm tied

behind his back!! As Simon M also said we need another centre back and

another striker - even if Bamford does come back very shortly. I note

that Eddie Howe is about to release Defoe - he'll do for me on a short

  term contract.

I know it appears to be very churlish of me to criticise MB, but I'm

gonna do anyway - absolutely no plan B other than to bring Clarke on,

who to be fair changed the game yet again for 20 minutes. Down to 10

men and we've worked our way back in to the game and even got a 2-1

lead. Call me old fashioned if you must (and I know you will!)  but

what's wrong with closing a game out these days? Make some subs and

stick 4 or 5 at the back and kill the game against a shite forest team.

Anyone remember 0-0 at the bridge when we only had 9 men?!  AGE ALERT -

The Don will be turning in his casket at throwing 3 points away there

  yesterday.

  Back to lurkdom in pattaya.

  Cheers  - Rogerre
