On paper a great result (which it is) but that only tells half the taleIn a way
the most important fact is that with both full backs and a young winger out
tomorrow (Ayling, Douglas and Harrison) none of Shackleton, Pearce nor Clarke
played (so all in the squad / team at Blackburn?)
We began terribly - we were very sluggish and could not string two passes
together, none of the flowing football of the first team or the u23s the last
time I watched them on LUTV
We went 1 down and then it could have been 3 or 4 as they missed two decent
chances and blasted a penalty well over the bar

After a rocky start we grew into the game and by the end were totally dominant
(Ayling had a header cleared off the line that should have made it 5)
Edmondson will get the headlines with his hat-trick (they will gloss over the
sitter he missed and the other two half chances) He certainly has an eye for
goal and with his size and strength he will make it as a footballer - not sure
at what level
Dalby got the other goal but the stand out player was our no10 McAlmont and
then Jordan Stevens who showed brilliant skills to lay on one of the goals. I
also liked Gotts (again) and was mainly impressed with Odour who came on as sub
(75% of what he did was great, a good touch, good control and strength but was
marred by some (25%) wayward stuff
Overall though a 4 1 win away from home with 3 of the better players missing is
a good result and we do seem to have a good crop of youngsters coming through
Dave
