Couldn't agree less about Forshaw. He looks very good to me, heads and
shoulders above anything else we have in midfield.
If Sampdoria came in and offered Viera a move there I would not be surprised if
he jumped at the chance. Championship club to Serie A.
Just saying...may not be all down to the club. He may have told them he wanted
to go once the opportunity was there.

Selling Viera smacks of the same old lack of aspiration to me, falsely

None of our other midfielders are any better than him in the holding /
combative midfielder type, I do not get what people see in Forshaw he's done
nothing to merit such high praise. He has a poor injury record and Leeds have
won only 1 of the 12 games he played in last year, he looks distinctly average
to me tidy and busy is about the best I can say (reminds me of Bridcutt, but
thankfully doesn't sit quite as deep).
we still need a decent centreback as others have said the rumoured Pennington
return and thought of Cooper and him being 2 of our 3 choices at Centreback is
nowhere near good enough for a side chasing promotion.
Clubs with hopes of challenging do not sell players unless it's a silly offer
and its clear the player wants to leave (e.g. Wood)

Hope you found yours Verner - I think mine may not be up yet. We could not find
it and my lad has not had the 'find your stone email' so we are now thinking
mine is in the next batch.
I thought they looked good but found it odd that people were walking all over
them treading mud and small stones etc all over them - not sure how good they
will be in a years time! A lot were "RIP" with a name and it felt a bit
irreverential standing on these ones.
I hope in a few weeks when everyone has found theirs and taken the obligatory
photo that they fence them off and only allow fans on them if they own one and
want to see it up close.
All the fans we overheard seem to be impressed with the whole concept

Not sure if anyone else has a paving stone (or whatever the technical term is)
but my lads bought me one for Christmas, so when any of you are looking at the
stones on Sunday or when the season starts properly, have a look out for "David
Nattan- Salford White"
One of my mates is near ER at the moment and he says the place is buzzing with
lots of parents and kids there ready for the new kit launch
Hopefully the new kit and the addition to the squad of Vydra and Douglas will
lift the mood and fill fans with the optimism which seems to have slipped day
by day from about a week after the appointment of Bielsa (whose appointment did
raise fans levels of hope and expectation)
I know that there are a few firms who have put a marker down on the ?23k
executive / corporate boxes but have failed to take the final step due to a
lack of new signings - hopefully ?10m for Vydra and the good vibe around
Douglas will give them that final nudge.
Looking at the results and performances of the side (albeit mainly u23s etc) v
Oxford and Guiseley 4 3 defeat and 4 3 victory we could be in for an exciting
season - Bielsa is quoted as being the type of manage who wants his team to
outscore the opposition and go for goals rather than make sure they don't
concede and let the other end of the pitch take care of itself. This gung-ho
approach is great for the fans though it tends to fall short when it comes to
real success, and we do look like we will struggle defensively unless we bring
in at least one more top centre back

I actually think Harrison was a real highlight for NYCFC when I watched them
play. Of course this is the MLS but that's probably Championship level.

https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/01/21/report-stoke-city-make-4-5-million-offer-nycfcs-jack-harrison
Jan 2018
Transfer interest is heating up around?New York City FC?winger?Jack
Harrison,?Goal.com reported on Saturday.
According to Ives Galarcep, English Premier League club Stoke City has offered
NYCFC $4.5 million for Harrison, with incentives that could push the final
amount to $6 million. The new offer follows a $3 million bid that NYCFC
declined last week.
Harrison was born in Stoke-on-Trent, England and grew up in the Manchester
United academy before moving to Massachusetts for high school. He played one
season of college soccer at Wake Forest before being selected with the first
overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
The English U-21 international had 10 goals and six assists in 34 regular
season appearances last year and has 14 goals and 13 assists in 55 games in his
two-year MLS career.
?I think everyone dreams of playing in the top leagues in Europe,? Harrison
said when asked about the Stoke reports at?MLS media day on Saturday?in Los
Angeles. ?Obviously growing up in England and everything it?s always been a
dream of mine to play in the Premier League, but as of right now I?m still a
New York City player
?As to the Stoke City rumors, nothing?s official yet so I?m still a New York
City player right now and that?s where my mindset is at. As I said before, my
agent deals with all that stuff, so I just leave it to him.?

Sounds like he is gone. Not sure how I feel about this, a year ago would have
been gutted, but last year I thought he didn?t progress. And sometimes was a
bit of a weak link. Still very young though so 7 mil is good money. Still kind
of disappointing though.

Completely disagree 100%. Viera is our best young talent. Yes he had some
dodgy games last season in a poor team but he was no worse than any of the
others at times. He is a young lad who has had an injury and needs some time to
develop. He's shown his potential during the Monk season where some of his
performances were sensational. We've now got a manager who has only watched
last season's matches and a Director of Football who prefers foreign loanees.?
It's a fucking disgrace. I loved watching Viera and this is just another kick
in the bollocks for the fans.?
FFS !?

Plus we can't rely on Forshaw, he's always injured.?

I think that is the general view - we all thought he was the next Delph / Cook
but his career then stalled or even went backwards, albeit some of this was
down to an injury and possibly playing too long without a break. The future
will show whether he is the real deal (so I hope we have a sell on clause) or
becomes the next Mowatt and drops down the leagues a bit.
If it is ?7m (to be honest I thought that it was 7m Euros (though almost the
same at the moment)) then that is pretty much the money we are alleged to be
paying for Bamford as the first bit, so swapping Vieira for Bamford does seem
decent business given the needs of our squad.
The stories about a return to ER by Pennington are more concerning - if Bielsa
watched all our games last season I cannot believe he wants him back there are
much better options out there, there must be, unless MB thinks he can do
something special with him in terms of improvement
