I cannot pretend to know what was behind Graham's anger. The ancient Byzantine list arguments never interested me. In fact, the only thing interesting about arguments is settling them. They are not fun. I was amazed to hear to some, or at least one; they are just that -- fun to rile and annoy. Well, it isn't fun, it gets out of hand and becomes ugly To me, Graham was and is a friend in need. He loathed the treatment I was getting and finally struck out. We met up, and he brought me a signed book of John Charles which is still with my brother. (Why is a long story). John Charles was and always will be my idol. And Graham gave me that book. The fact that a guy who knew the King of Kings, John Charles, gets thrown off this list says something really bad about us all. Graham was reacting in a way that displeased -- but he was reacting. And we should first realise he was reacting and ask why did he have to? There is something seriously wrong when a guy like Thirkers has no place on this list. We must all get our acts together. And Graham should be asked to come back. He did not adopt the legend 'Fame wars R us.' He answered back in that spirit. Graham and I converse regularly, I reckon daily. I have received nothing but kindness, consideration and jokes. But I understand why he reacted as he did. Graham Thirkill is not the cause of the ugliness of late. He reacted to it. Now he has left, and the ugliness remains; self-satisfied and probably vindicated in its own eyes. And it will no doubt go on. Re-instate Graham and eradicate the cause of the ugliness not the result of it. Michael
