I think the difference with a hometown & academy lad is you might get a little more out of him than any other similarly skilled player. Hernadez probably has more natural skill, but can't see him putting his body on the line & Howson would make a good captain, prob better than Bridcutt.

I really do not get our fans obssession with ex players - waccoe over the years has been full of lets bring x back - from Gradel and Becchio, to Cook, Lennon, Milner, Delph, Snodgrass, Beckford , Byram etc etcUnless Howson is the best we can get at the price then forget him. We should be looking at bringing in players who will fit into our system and who are the best we can afford and not just 'did he play for Leeds, let's bring him back' It seems that players who leave on decent terms suddenly become better than we remember them - Howson had plenty of critics at ER when he played for us and I doubt he has got any better since he left. So much so in Howson's case that whenever his name gets a mention my son says . " Oh that Johnny Howson, the answer to our prayers" which is what I said (sarcastically) when he came on v Bristol Rovers (and then got the equaliser !) - to be fair I quite liked Howson, although he was one of those players who never had a real role, defensive centre midfielder, attacking centre midfielder, wide player or a a number 10 / in the hole ? He played in all those roles for us at times, probably best as a number 10 - I remember his two goals v Carlisle to win the play off semi - but is he better there than both Hernandez and Roofe ? Let's concentrate on the future not the past (I count Bartley as the present so no problem getting him back , since I view it more as keeping him Dave _______________________________________________ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email [email protected] MARCHING ON TOGETHER
