There is a bug in 17.01.2 that prevented x86 images from including Xen support. 17.01.1 worked fine though. See https://bugs.lede-project.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=908 As for Xen support in x86_64 images, it just landed in master, and there are patches pending to enable it also on lede-17.01.
