first of all, I would like to apologize for my extremely late feedback.
I have switched back to OpenWrt and postponed experiments with LEDE
indefinitely. For several days, I have seen an announcement about LEDE
17.01.2 and have realized, that I forgot to do the analysis and give you
some feedback – sorry.
So I have installed LEDE 17.01.2
(lede-17.01.2-brcm47xx-mips74k-standard-squashfs.trx) today and I found
out, that this version has the same problem.
Then I have compared the list of installed packages with OpenWrt 15.05.1
and three important packages were missing.
Once I installed “kmod-mac80211”, “kmod-cfg80211” and “kmod-b43” and
restarted the router, I was able to see, configure and finally use both
wireless interfaces (screenshot attached).
Either the file “lede-17.01.2-brcm47xx-mips74k-standard-squashfs.trx”
doesn't contain these three packages, so I would suggest to add them in
the next release, or the file contains these packages, but they are
hidden or inaccessible due some error.
I thing, that the bug with ID 455, which is on the V2 version of this
router (I have V1) has the same root cause.

What I experienced on my WRT54GL from the brcm47xx/legacy target:
The _upgrade_ file 'standard-squashfs' [1] seems to be missing the b43 driver,
therefore no wifi when using this file. Here's the list of packages which come

Further, when using the 'factory' image in [2] (for the WRT54GL), it seems
that the image is too big right now for tftp flashing. The CFE first accepts
the image via TFTP, starts flashing and after a while stops with an 'Unknown
error'.
