You'll want to use OpenWrt Kamikaze 8.09 and use the official package manager opkg. Follow the linked wiki page (https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/mmc_over_gpio) and you'll be fine.
The latest releases have deprecated kmod-mmc-over-gpio in favor of just getting other generic $30 routers from AliExpress that have built in TF/MMC ports (generally RT5350), or AR9311 routers with USB e.g. TL-MR3020.
