Is there any possibility of changing the LazReport license of

As I understand the Library General Public License one is not
able to
static link without the resulting code falling under the license restrictions. So basically you cannot use it in a
propriotery/commercial
application.

George.

That was some discussion about it in IRC.Yes,currently LazReport is
not as usable as other components.I doubt if we can do anything beside contact with author and ask to change license.

In fact I already asked the author of FreeReport, I'm waiting his
reply, I will let you know as soon as I have it.

I was reading some news related to GPL and LGPL at: http://news.zdnet.com/2100-9595_22-6025310.html , and had a good laugh at this bit,

quote:

Changes to the variant license should be a priority, Carey said. "I'm less concerned about the GPL than I am about the LGPL. I've read it 10 times and I still don't know what it means, and I was a programmer as well as a lawyer," he said. "If I can't understand it, I'm not sure who can. It doesn't have the ease of use the GPL has."

That about sums it up for me as far as some sections of the LGPL go. It sure is a good thing Lazarus is ModifiedLGPL. I think it has prevented a few burned out brain cells.

George.
