thanks for that detailed explanation of the details of TLazIntfImage and
FPImage !
that has highlighted another important issue that i was not aware of:
our code also makes heavy use of palette operations to reduce images to
very compact grayscales - so i'll have to think through the lack of them
in FPImage very carefully. there's a nice irony here: palettes were
developed (in part) because early PC's had very limited (graphics)
memory - so palettes are an anachronism in this day of 256M video cards
- but an anachronism that is essential to our work.
as far as 64 bit Lazarus is concerned, i wasn't expecting it to work
now, but it's clearly going to happen eventually - in contrast to Delphi 64.
