That is wrong, it should query fpc for that.

It's my questionable phrasing. I should possibly have put "the IDE
queries fpc, where fpc might be in receipt of an explicit -V, to
determine the properties of ppc386", but since I'd already discussed -V
in earlier lines I thought it would confuse rather than clarify.
