Even if there is no wrong in existing mechanism (if you mean gettext),
the idea is like Database engine, it must not force developers to use
one Database, even if choose the best one, for that there is many kind
of layers that let us choose the favorite database.
About gettext, i also use PO files for multilanguage, not MO file as
like Lazarus, but i have my own parser and some extra properties
suitable with my application, it long story need a good English writer
:) .
But nobody forces you to use gettext ? The resource strings can be loaded
using any mechanism you want. gettext is just one of the possibilities, and
was implemented by default because it is the de-facto standard on unixes.
