I've been using an Applied Motion 1240i. It's inexpensive, very
robust, small, and easy to use. It has a serial interface and
although I don't use the feature will run it's own program internally.

I am building some linear stages to be controlled by labview... the
application is fairly distributed, so PCI cards and drives are not
so convenient. I am looking for a 1 or 2 axis stepper drive with
integrated controller and RS232 or ethernet communication. The
motors are fairly small (3 amps currently). The market seems
saturated with stuff for the hobbiest, but I am looking for
something a little more industrial and use out of the box. Anyone
know of products like this?

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down?
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason. --Jack Handy
