I don't think this can be done. AFAIK, the VISA functions rely on instruments already found (either by MAX or otherwise).
However..... Sometimes when using VISA with a control, I'm only presented with a certain choice of COM-ports. Editing the values to an instrument I KNOW exists, but isn't listed generally works. Maybe this works for TCPIP also? Hope this helps. Shane.
