Reference Trigger

I have read Data Acquisition and Signal Conditioning Manual and I have
found that my goal is realizing a Reference Trigger. I have got a NI
PXI 4472 device, good for Traditional DAQ, not good for DAQmx. The
problem is that all the examples and exercise in the manual are
suitable for DAQmx applications. Can you suggest me a Data Acquisition
manual to solve my problem, or the correct example to look at in
Traditional DAQ?
