Daniel,

In LabVIEW 6.1 there is an example called Parse Arithmetic Expression.vi
Located in the strings.llb of your :

Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 6.1\Examples\General folder.

This would be a good start. I have written a script interpreter for LabVIEW
and its not trivial enough to give away. But you can do what you want and
handle the declaration of variables including unique names.

I would strongly suggest you think outside the box typing expressions is
very DOS and those days as we all know are gone!. Surely you can have a
simpler interface. Also, its easy for humans to make mistakes entering
complex text syntax another reason for a better graphical interface.
