Thanks for your quick reply and the link (which helped clarify the versioning scheme as well). The PPA - the first Debian/Ubuntu packaging of evolution-ews - was just accepted. Would you happen to know how I go about submitting it for inclusion with the other evolution-* packages in the precise repos?
