Hello. In my .tex file \dot{\vec{r}} corresponded to a black line segment
under the dotted vector r in my output file. My first guess is that it may
have been an output file corresponding to a latex2html... command on the .tex
file. My uncertainty on that matter arises because in recent weeks I have been
using both pdflatex commands and the combination of latex plus latex2html
commands. My method to eliminate the black line segment under the dotted
vector r was to instead put \dot\vec{\hspace{0.2 mm}r} in my .tex file.
Here are the versions and/or dates and/or years of the relevant codes I found I
have installed on my computer:
Code Version
Date or year
pdflatex pdfTeX version 3.1415926-2.3-1.40.12 in TeX Live 2011 (I am
not certain about the ending "12" in my notes.)
LaTeX2e
September 24, 2009
LaTeX2HTML 1.71
2008
My note on the above problem is dated December 29, 2012. So I may have had the
above problem either that day or a few days earlier than December 29, 2012.
