Ah yes...at one time I also took out -ldump and it solved image generation problems. I have also, at times, added -debug which also solved similar problems.

I'm not either, but there now seems to be evidence suggesting it's the LaTeX package that is the problem (int he sense that changing it results in the problem manifesting itself or going away.)

Yup. I just installed all the stuff from the new Mandrake package ... silly me, I figured that it would all work together :) And, for the most part it does ... I'm starting to chant "I'll never upgrade again", again.
