Thank you, Carolyn for this analysis. It does make a lot of sense. I think that the Alencon workers were really trying for a hexagonal look, which as you say takes more skill. But, in Burano, they are extremely proud of their mesh and think it is very special and unique, so I thought maybe there was something I didn't understand about it. Would you care to hazard a guess about the mesh in the Vieux Flandre piece? Was it made in Burano, or in Belgium? Devon
