Hello everyone, Thank you for all of the encouraging replies so far! Devon pointed out to me that there is some more information about this piece in the Met's internal database, so I looked it up and found this:
"Linen, purchased in Secretariat of Schools, Prague, 1938; made in one of special craft schools under auspices of state; probably a teacher's demonstration piece." Interesting! Are there lists of lace schools and teachers in Prague anywhere? There must be, but my books are out of reach at the moment so I'd appreciate any help.
