I found the board an excellent way to teach a beginner how to read the pricking... adding a few arrows I could show her what to complete first, second and so on, and she knew where to start the next time she returned to the project whether in class or on her own. Sometimes, I just asked "Show me where you are on the pricking." The forest of pins can be concealing...
