Hello,
FYI: based on the issue, more changes have been done in Weblate
regarding the automatic suggestions - they will be available in Weblate
5.10.2.
Best regards,
Stanislav

Thanks a lot, Olivier!
I was referred to this issue when I suggested an improvement here:
https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate/issues/13908
Looking forward to see the TDF's instance upgraded to 5.10.
Best regards,
Stanislav

Hello,
before the next release, I will repeat my regular complaint about not
working automatic suggestions in Weblate (see previous [1]) which
would be - if working - one of the most useful features there.
For instance: the string [2] in current master adds only "as an
attachment" to the previous version from 25.2 [3]. However, no
translation suggestion is offered in Weblate.
You write "only" - but for a machine translation standpoint that is
too much of a difference for the system to deem that useful.
I'm sorry, but if I have the string:
This setting enables you to export the document as a .pdf file
containing two file formats: PDF and ODF as an attachment.
and the system does not suggest this string:
This setting enables you to export the document as a .pdf file
containing two file formats: PDF and ODF.
then it's simply a fail.
You can manually search for the string by copying it and pasting it
into the search box in the automated translations and you will get a
match.
That's definitely interesting, thanks! I was not aware about quite
different thresholds for search and suggestions: 10 and 75 (as stated
here [1]) For the string above it means 62% and 97% similarity which
matches with what is observed - the needed suggestion string has 85%.
Imagine getting tons of strings you have to sift through and all are
related, but still different, that'd equally be a waste of time.
In this case there are no tons, just the only one. For me, it would
make sense not to limit suggestions to a fixed threshold (which
cannot be configured), but make it flexible until at least some
results are found.
I would suggest to file this as a Weblate issue - any opinion?
Best regards,
Stanislav
