The other way round: Those settings (the blacklisting one) can *prevent* your computer from freezing :-) But of course if it does freeze for you, then you should file a bug with the details of your graphics card and driver, so it can be added to the blacklist for all users, so that not-so-early-testers won't suffer from the same problem.
