I found the name of the repair person that I have used with high success for
cordless Panasonic phones:

I am not sure if he can "marry" unmatched handsets and bases, but it is
worth a call and a report back to find out. I have quite a few in my
collection, also.
My experience with Panasonic is that they send them all back to me as
"UNREPAIRABLE"... which is unacceptable to me!

There was a post quite awhile ago with the name of a fellow in, I believe
Arkansas or Mississippi that does an excellent reasonable repair on
cordless phones. I can't locate his info but someone on the list may be
able to repost it.
I have used him a few times and all with excellent results.

I bought a used cordless kxt7885. The base light goes from red to green
