Howdy, I have been lurking on here for several months, and finally get
enough courage to answer a question.  We built a new home and wanted to
install a phone system.  Mainly to handle the following things:
1. Door Bell Intercom
2. Page ALL and Page Extension functions instead of yelling at the top of
your lungs "TIME FOR DINNER"
3. Voicemail
 
We purchased a Pana KX-TA824 connectd with a TVS95 and have it set up and
working.  With one small annoyance I'll describe in a bit.
The TVS95 is connected to the KX-TA824 via JACK 07 using APT Integration.  I
did the setup with my laptop connected to the TVS95 and it seemed to change
the programing on the TA824 accordingly.  I recorded the greetings on the
TVS95 and it is set up real simple:
"Hello you have reached xxxxxxx  for Mark and Lane press 101 and for
Kimberly press 105"  It then says "Please press your party's mail box
number"  in it's default voice.  So that all works OK.  
 
Don't know if there is a better way to accomplish the voicemail task.  I'm
beginning to think that the TVS95 was WAY overkill and maybe we should have
just went with the built in voicemail or used the phone companies voice
mail.
 
Anyway, everything works OK.  The complaint comes in picking up your voice
mail.  The phones are all KX-T7736's.  To pick up voicemail I have to hit
the intercom button on the phone and dial 107 and then wait for it to ring
for 20 seconds and then it will prompt, please enter your password followed
by the # sign.  The question:  HOW CAN I ELIMINATE THE 20 SECOND TIME IT
TAKES FOR THE INTERNAL CALL TO PICK UP?
 
I have the KX-TA Maint Console software on my laptop and looking at the
setting that I think I have programed they are as follows:
 
Difference that I can see from the normal:
 Jack 07 is named VOICEMAIL in the numbering plan
Page 2.3 Jack 07 is set up for No Line in outgoing line preference
Page 2.6 Jack 07 is set up in Group No 7 in the 600 extension Group and
Group 7 is set up in a Circular Extension Hunting
Page 3.4 Local Carrier Based VM is disabled.
Page 6.1 [500] DISA Incomming Call Dial Mode set to Without AA, but in the
AA Table I have Extensions 101 and 105
 
Page 6.2 [511] DISA Security mode, in the Timers section: DISA Delayed
Answer Time is 12 Sec, DISA Wait time after OGM is 5 sec, DISA Ring before
intercept is 20 sec, DISA Ring TIme after intercept is 20 sec, and Intercept
time for internal DISA is 3 sec
 

Anything else you need know let me know.
 
Again, is the TVS95 overkill?  Is there a market for them second hand should
we want to get rid of it and go with something simpler?  I don't really see
where we need multiple mailboxes.  Sure it is nice to have one for Mom and
Dad and 1 for the Daughter who won't be living at home forever.  Would it be
better to go with the QWEST (Local Carrier) Voice mail and pay them the $$$
every month for that service?
 
It would be nice to program a button to pick up your voicemail and even
better if you didn't have to input a password each time.
