Take your answering machine and connect as an extension in the system
(let say 201)
Connect the same extension 201 also to CO1 on the cabinet (which you
are probably no longer using)
Setup button CO1 on every phone
Program so there is no ringing on 201 or all extensions from CO1
Pressing CO1 while answering machine is ON will answer the call and
turn off the answering machine,
as in the old days.

Subject: KX-T: Monitoring calls a night on PA

This is probably too simple a question for this group, but here goes.

In the old days before upgrading from the KX-T1232 (12 plain copper CO
lines)
to our KX-TD1232 with a KX-TD290 PRI module, we used to have an
answering
machine connected to the CO01 line (company main number), and an amp and
speaker connected to the answering machine.

When a call would come in after hours and the answering machine was on,
one
could listen to the caller and pick up the call simply by pressing the
CO01
button on any phone.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do this with the PRI.
I have it set up so that in night mode calls go to an extension, where
the
answering machine is, after three rings. But once the answering machine
has
picked up, how does one pick up the call from any other extension (and
get the
answering machine to hang up)?

We do have a TVS120 voice mail system. Maybe hooking up the amp/speaker
to the
speaker on the receptionist's phone and program it for live screening
after
hours?

Finn
