Put the computer modem on the same jack as the 7736 phone. Then you can just pick up the handset on the 7736, even when the computer is dialing.
I know this works on the digital systems this way, I think it should work on the 624 as well. I have set up computers where the operator uses it to dial, and listens in on the 7700 phone until someone picks up.
